Sarah Johnson
Sarah Johnson - Biography Sarah Johnson graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2008 with a First Class Honours Degree in Textiles.
She is a North-West based innovative designer who transforms realistic imagery of cupids and biblical figures into stitched linear drawings.
Using this stitched style she creates wall covering designs which are both quirky and unique. Inspiration for her work has often developed from her cultural experiences; this collection was motivated by a visit to the Biennalle in Venice.
As a result, her designs and patterns, now include religious figures, intricate columns and the vibrant masks so typical of the life and times of the Comedia dell Arte.
Sarah, acknowledges, in particular, the Artist Fornasetti who has been an enormously influential inspiration over the development of the body of her work, creating an artistic penumbra, under which the full range of her unique ideas and designs have been able to unfold.
